Fact About Elderly - Usually elderly begins at age of 50, this first phase was called as pre-retirement, wherein they are conscious of life after adulthood, at age of 65 comes the retirement age this is the second phase of aging, whereas the elders face temporary crisis in life, health, financial stability and lifestyle, the third phase also known as senility phase, this is the last phase of aging as elderly characterized by the aging process exhibiting many diseases and disabilities.
Important Facts to Remember :
1. They want to remain independence.
2. They enjoy sexual relationship.
3. They can maintain good health.
4. Senility is not the same as old age.
5. They want to be contributing members of a society.
6. They often learn, although they take longer then younger people to do so.
Challenges Faced By The Elderly
1. Adjusting to decreasing physical health and strength.
2. Adjustment to retirement and reduced income.
3. Adjusting to death of a spouse.
4. Establishing an explicit affiliation of one's age group.
5. Adopting social roles in flexible ways.
6. Establishing satisfactory living arrangement.
